A large winch from a wrecked boat gives this point on French Reef its name, Winch Hole.  Coral algae, sponges, and more use manmade structures as habitat, that in many places, especially where there are no reefs, people sink old ships to provide a substrate for an artificial reef.  >>

After diving we camped at Pennecamp's campground for one night and then headed  down to Key West.  It's 100 miles from there and much of it is on a two lane road, but once on the Keys, we get into a slower, enjoy-the-scenery mode.  

When in Key West, we like staying in the campground at the Naval Base.  It's right on the bay and it's an easy bike ride into town.   We come down here a couple of times a year, but many of the other campers are here for the whole winter.

When we went into town there were a couple of new sculptures that we liked near Mallory Square.  They were modeled after famous paintings.
