Bryce Canyon

The next day we were on the move again. It was 122 miles to Bryce Canyon.

We stopped at an ice-covered stream next to the road.

The famous entrance to Bryce Canyon is an arch.

We recorded our entry for posterity.

Our campsite was in a piney woods. We were one of the very few campers here. We paid for our site and then continued through the park.

We hiked along a rim trail from Sunset Point to Sunrise Point.

The pillar-like structures here are called hoodoos.

We thought this squarish grouping of hoodoos looked like a medieval castle.

We liked that there were no fences or barriers between the trail and the precipice.

We did a small side hike down into the canyon.

Further down the trail, we got a view of the rim formations.

This arch was visible from an overlook further down the road deeper into the park.

At the next overlook, a raven played its role as our spirit guide.

I struck up a conversation with the raven.

Another raven joined us.

I continued to talk to them in low tones about how beautiful they were and they muttered back to me.

The conversation lasted for more than 15 minutes. It was a magical moment in nature.

We reached the end of the road at Rainbow Point.

Our adventure shadow as the sun was setting behind us.

It had been a spectacular day traveling along the rim of Bryce Canyon. We headed back to the campsite.

On to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes... >>
