Key West--12/03: << Part 1 << Part 2  Part 3 Part 4 >>  Part 5 >>

<< Audubon's garden behind his house.  There is a new gallery where you can see/buy copies of all his prints.

The Little White House has a long history and was named when used by the Trumans in the 50's.  It is still visited by presidents and it continues to be used for various diplomatic meetings. >>

These identical houses were built for J. Pierpont Morgan's daughters.

Hemmingway spent a lot of time here in Key West.  And who could blame him?? The look-alike contests are an annual affair in June.  >>

<< The house to the left used to be base housing, but it and many others have are now private homes.  The best way to see Key West is by bike - we always were finding new and interesting things.

There are many great-looking houses that may or may not be associated with anyone famous.

Daughter-in-law Christa's cousin Sean painted this mural in Jimmy Buffet's Bar.

And finally, on Olivia St. is a house named after grand daughter Olivia Stibolt!  Not really, but we do call her Miss Olivia sometimes, so we took photos for her.

This pelican thought he'd help himself to this catch of the day from the Lucky Strike.

There are more than 2000 feral chickens on Key West.  There's even a chicken store. In the paper we read that people are tired of their early morning crowing and are lobbying to have them removed.  We don't think that will happen.

Out on the Coast Guard pier, this flock of Skimmers, Royal Terns and various sea gulls create quite a show.

We were visited often by this great white heron at our camping site on the Naval base.

The pelicans are often quite comical, but then
so are the people...
