Key West--12/03: << Part 1 << Part 2  << Part 3  << Part 4  Part 5

We visited the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades on two separate mornings.  Best time of day; no other people, still water, more animal activity and interesting light for photos.

After a week or so on Key West we headed north about 100 miles to visit The Everglades.

You can get quite close to a good variety of wildlife.
There are no bars or cages.

Fabulous and interesting birds are: small or large, common or rare, and shy or brazen.

The reflections add another dimension to the photos...

When Dean leaned over the rail to photograph this green heron, he looked back. and seemed to say, "You lookin' at me??"

While the Anhingas give the park its name, it's the cormorants that are the real hams.   In the photos above an Anhinga is on the left while the cormorants are on the right.

<< The serious photographers need to back away from the rail so their long lenses can focus.

After visiting daughter Dori, we drove the highway home to Maryland to end this excellent adventure.
